SHERU ABDULHUSEIN, Senior Lawyer
Sheru represents and advises clients across Ontario on family law issues including divorce, decision-making responsibility (custody), parenting time (access), child support, spousal support, property division, Family Responsibility Office (FRO) enforcement matters, interjurisdictional support, and domestic contracts such as separation, marriage, and cohabitation agreements.
She also assists parents with child protection matters (disputes involving children’s aid societies). She regularly appears in court and represents clients in negotiations, mediations and arbitrations.
Sheru is also an advocate for tenants involved in disputes with their landlords. She helps tenants understand their rights and represents clients at the Landlord and Tenant Board.
Sheru has significant experience assisting clients who are survivors of violence and trauma, and strives to uphold anti-oppressive principles and a survivor-centred approach in all her work. She earned a J.D. from Queen’s University in 2014 and holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Psychology from McMaster University.
OLIVIA COOMBE, Associate Lawyer
Olivia is a Toronto lawyer supporting clients with family law matters including decision making responsibility & parenting time (child custody and access), restraining orders, child protection, child support, and spousal support.
Olivia’s legal experience includes work in civil litigation, housing matters (Landlord & Tenant Board), appealing OHIP and ODSP denials, and cases involving Charter and Human rights. She has worked on public interest cases and for individual clients through free legal clinics and the Community Justice Collective. She sat as a section executive for the Ontario Bar Association’s Sexual and Gender Diversity Alliance and studied intersectional diversity of Canadian judges for the Canadian Bar Association. Coming to law school as a mature student, she brings nearly two decades of experience in client services, project management, and public interest advocacy.
Olivia holds a Juris Doctor from Toronto Metropolitan University and a Political Science specialist BA from the University of Toronto. She is a recipient of the 2025 Justice Rosalie Silberman Abella Award from the Royal Society of Canada, the 2023 Chief Justice Richard Wagner Award from Pro Bono Students Canada and the 2023 Recognition for Trans Activism & Advocacy award from the Canadian Association of 2SLGBTQIA+ Lawyers.
